LG is likely to intro a special version of the Optimus G Pro for the US on May 1 in New York City, but before showing love to Americans the company has first decided to cover all its bases in its homeland Korea.
Meet the Optimus GK, a shrunken down G Pro with a 5-inch display and basically identical specs to its bigger brother. Or, if you prefer, a 100% copy of the Japanese Optimus G Pro (model number L-04E).
Confused much? Unfortunately, that’s how companies like Samsung and LG do business these days. But hey, choice is good, right? And on that note, the 5-inch Optimus GK doesn’t look half bad, being probably the strongest Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One contender around.
Optimus GK’s biggest flaw is most likely its fairly chunky profile (the thing measures 9.9 mm in thickness, compared with GS4’s 7.9 mm), but it’s all for a noble purpose – keeping the battery hefty, at 3,100 mAh.
As for the rest of the specs and features, we can say the 5-incher ticks every box to be called a top of the line phone, including a Full HD screen, a 13 MP rear camera, 2 GB of RAM, a zippy quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 4G LTE connectivity and expandable storage.
No words on pricing yet and we also don’t know if the 5-incher is to land outside Asia at any point in the future. Would you like it to come to Europe and US in addition to the 5.5-inch G Pro?
