There’s not much point in owning a portable media player anymore when you can get the same functions and features, plus a considerable performance boost and voice calling support from smartphones, right?
Still, Apple’s iPods continue to be relatively popular, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that Samsung is preparing a new line of PMPs as well. The second Galaxy Player generation could be unveiled very soon, and, like the first, it will probably feature several gadgets of different sizes.
One of the new family’s members has been very recently spotted in a benchmark, which has revealed a couple of its specs. There will apparently be Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on board of the device, probably plastered with some TouchWiz UI tweaks, while the display will boast a modest 800 x 480 pixels resolution.
Unfortunately, that’s about everything we “know” at the moment about the gizmo codenamed YP-GI2, but again, we’re guessing Samsung will intro at least three or four new Galaxy Players by the end of summer, with screen sizes ranging from 3.5 to 6 inches and uber-low price points. Anyone interested? Anyone at all?
