HTC has exited the tablet game a while ago after several painful sales flops, but rumors about a comeback have been floating around ever since late last year. The biggest questions seem to be when will HTC make its next tab push and how many devices will the company intro rather than if such a thing will ever happen.
The newest word around the block is HTC is prepping tablets (plural) with Windows on board for an unveiling in the fall and a release in time for the next holiday season. The tab duo is allegedly named R7 – R12, so the previous rumor about a 10-incher being in the works is officially debunked.
Chances are the two will run an RT version of the next major Windows release, codenamed Blue, but this is all up in the air for now. The rumored spec sheets do include however several very intriguing features, like a Full HD panel, 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU and 2 GB of RAM for the 7-incher and a whopping 2,048 x 1,536 pix res screen for the 12-inch R12.
There are of course no words on pricing yet, but we’re likely looking at something not exactly budget-conscious and definitely out of the price range of Nexus 7 buyers. With that in mind, do you think HTC should go through with this or not?
