The Growing Need for Rules on Teen Mobile Usage (Infographic)

With new technology released what seems like everyday, it can sometimes be challenging for parents to manage their children’s online activity and phone use. The following infographic by CTIA takes a look at today’s wireless family, and how mobile device use is introduced to children at an earlier age than ever before.

For example, 39% of 2-4 year olds have used a mobile device, while a whopping 56% of children between the ages of 8 and 12 own a cell phone. The average teen sends 60 text messages per day. While the use of mobile devices is up by teens, there is a significant disparity between teens and parents perceptions of online conversations. This data predicts the growing need for parents to set rules for how their children communicate online.
