With new technology released what seems like everyday, it can sometimes be challenging for parents to manage their children’s online activity and phone use. The following infographic by CTIA takes a look at today’s wireless family, and how mobile device use is introduced to children at an earlier age than ever before.

For example, 39% of 2-4 year olds have used a mobile device, while a whopping 56% of children between the ages of 8 and 12 own a cell phone. The average teen sends 60 text messages per day. While the use of mobile devices is up by teens, there is a significant disparity between teens and parents perceptions of online conversations. This data predicts the growing need for parents to set rules for how their children communicate online.
