Sero 7 Pro

Ever since Google released the Nexus 7, it has been a challenge for other companies to release low-priced tablets with similar specs. One of the latest competitors to enter the fray is Hisense. Perhaps best known for televisions, Hisense just released a couple Android tablets exclusively at Walmart. The Sero 7 Pro and the Sero 7 LT cost $149 and $99 respectively. The Sero 7 Pro has specs that are on par with the Nexus 7, but it even manages to offer features Google’s tablet doesn’t have.

Here is a rundown of the Sero 7 Pro’s specs:

  • Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean
  • 1.3GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage with microSD slot
  • 7-inch 1280×800 HD IPS display
  • 5-megapixel rear camera with flash
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • GPS
  • NFC
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • Mini HDMI port

On paper this tablet is very impressive. It’s hard to believe it’s only $149. We got a hold of the Sero 7 Pro to see if it lives up to its hype. Check out the video below for a complete overview of what this tablet has to offer.

  1. Does the front camera work with Skype? Or GoToMeeting? Or AdobeConnect? etc.

  2. It autofocuses when you press the shutter button. Sorta weird if you’re used to active/adaptive autofocus but it does do it right before the shutter action.

  3. Any ideas on availability? I can’t find it available anywhere on the Walmart site.

  4. It’s kind of hit or miss with most walmarts. Some have never heard of them. You really have to be proactive in your search. I am not sure if they’re offered on their website.
