Talk about an overlooked and underrated champion! LG’s Optimus G Pro landed on AT&T back in May with an ultra-crisp 5.5-inch Full HD screen, explosive quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB RAM and massive 3,140 mAh battery, but very few folks went for it, choosing instead Samsung’s Galaxy S4 or the HTC One.
That forced LG and AT&T to drop G Pro’s pricing more than once, from $200 with contracts to $170, $150 and finally $50. Naturally, the off-contract price tag had to budge too, but I’ll be honest, I never suspected seeing the 5.5-incher go for just $439.99. Not this year, at least.
And yet here we are, just two months after LG Optimus G Pro’s American release, and Ma Bell has already done the deed. How low is that $440 price? Incredibly. The smartphone used to cost a whopping 600 bucks in May, although it quickly dropped to $550.
Be that as it may, you can still save $110 compared to before and, most importantly, get a truly high-end Android device at the price of a mid-ranger. Really, carefully check the market and you’ll see there’s no way in hell you can find another flagship gadget at less than $500-$550. Crazy, huh?
Meanwhile, keep in mind that this is very likely a strategic decision on LG’s part, considering the company’s next spearhead, the G2, will become official soon. But hey, if you’re not looking to drop $700 on a phone, you can grab the G Pro and be at complete peace.
