I’m not going to lie. I’ve never heard of Google Shopper until now. However, the app has been downloaded over 10 million times across mobile OS platforms. So out of that amount, to the active Shoppers, this news may come as a downer.
Google has announced on Friday that their Google Shopper app will reach extinction on August 30. The company encourages users to instead use Google’s Search app in lieu of Shopper, which helped users find product information, organize shopping lists and even link to places where items can be purchased. A direct link to the product search feature (though it’s a clickable tab on Google’s main page) is www.google.com/shopping.
There is no word on whether Google will be introducing a replacement for their Shopper app, which is available still here from Google Play and here from Apple’s App Store. Chances are we won’t be seeing any. That’s if Shopper will be going the same way as Reader (R.I.P.)
