According to an article on cNet, the new iPhone 5C (as people are calling it), will probably ditch Siri. Forecast analyst Gene Munster stated his prediction in an investors note released Monday night.
While I’m not a fan of rumor posts, I think this one makes sense. There will need to be clear differentiators between the 5S and the 5C, other than processor speed and perhaps memory. We know Apple won’t sacrifice user experience, so it’s likely the new iPhone user being targeted by this phone won’t immediately recognize the distinction between the 5C and the 5S. Lack of Siri would be an obvious feature difference. The question would be up to the user. Do I need Siri enough to pay more for her?
I’m sure there will be other differences, but from a marketing perspective, Siri works well to distinguish the two phone lines.
