If you are a proud owner of HTC One Developer Edition, there is a bit of bad news and a bit of good news. Starting with the bad news; it has been revealed that the HTC One Developer Edition will not get the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update. Instead, it will be pushed up directly to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, according to Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales at HTC.

It was reported on Twitter by Jason Mackenzie in response to a number of tweets that Android 4.2.2 is a minor update and it offers limited customer benefit, so the company decided to move over to the latest one.

There is no estimated time of arrival for the Android 4.3 update but it is expected to be rolled out by the end of this month. Most U.S. based versions of the HTC One are stuck on Android 4.1.2, and at this time, we’re unsure if they’ll be directly updated to Android 4.3 too. There is also no indication of an update from AT&T, Sprint or any other U.S. carrier. The only exception here will be the Verizon HTC One, bringing Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Even if they do decide to skip the Android 4.2.2 update on the regular One, it would still take around 2-3 months for the update to reach all users, due to the fact that carriers add their own customizations and apps to devices in their network.
