There are a lot of iPad mounts, stands, and holders out there. Some involve flexible tails while others offer snug grips attached to a swiveling-base. But what about the super thin kind with magnets?
MagBak is an iPad mount that doesn’t even look or feel like a mount. Any casual glance would make you think that it’s some brightly-colored hand grip.
But it is! Both pieces are meant to be mounted to the side of an iPad to provide better handling and grip.
The MagBak consists of silicone-encapsulated magnets in a design that’s only millimeters thin. The magnets are powerful enough to hold the iPad up against any metal surface. The fridge may immediately come to mind, but once you start thinking of finding more metal surfaces, the creativity really kicks in.
But hey, if you can’t think of or find any, each MagBak comes with a metal O-ring that you can attach anywhere you want to magnetically-mount your tablet.
When you set your iPad down, the MagBak elevates your iPad off of surfaces, helping to keep it pristine and scratch-free. If the surface is angled, the MagBak will help keep it in place too.
MagBak uses heavy-duty tape to stick to your iPad. Those who worry about permanent residue, the 3M adhesive comes off easily with solution or Goo-Gone.
As for the magnets themselves, they’re located in the same area that the iPad’s internal magnets are and they don’t interfere with any of the tablet’s communications.
MagBak is already fully-funded on Kickstarter, but you still have a couple of weeks to put in your pledge for one of your own.
