The One2Touch Softpad S1, the world’s first Near Field Communication (NFC) physical keyboard for Android smartphones is now available.

This type of durable keyboard is ideal for travelers, students, journalists, or anyone who has an Android device and wants that physical typing experience.

The NFC technology uses less power than traditional Bluetooth pairing. This has great potential for smartphone users when the phone is connected to a wireless network.

Wireless frequency can often disrupt Bluetooth signals to portable keyboards, causing keystrokes to me missed or repeated by the dozens.

The split-keyboard design fits smartphones up to 5-inch screens while providing ergonomic typing equivalent to a 13-inch laptop.

The Softpad S1 contains a non-rechargeable battery that lasts up to 18 months. There’s no word on what type or how to replace it.

The One2Touch Softpad S1 is available now for $99 at Brookstone.com and in Brookstone retail outlets.
