Motorola’s Moto X smartphone, unveiled earlier in the month was branded early as something along the lines of “America’s smartphone.” Entirely manufactured in the good U.S. of A, the Moto Maker website application allows for users to customize the look of their device with 18 back color options and seven color accent choices on the anodized aluminum pieces around the camera lens and on the side buttons.
When a Moto X is pre-ordered either online or through AT&T, customers are given a Moto X card with a PIN number. From there, the PIN is needed to access the design program, www.motorola.com/us/designit.
Other customization options are internal storage size, 16 GB or 32 GB; custom greeting; color-coordinated wallpaper and pre-setting a Google account. Basically Motorola is laying out what’s needed for each user to create their perfectly unique and personal smartphone. Right out of the box, it’s good to go.
I’m foreseeing the Moto X taking on a new role, beyond just a smartphone, it’s a fashion accessory and it’s only a matter of time before we begin seeing users matching their outfits accordingly. Green shoes, check. Green shorts and T-shirt, check. Green smartphone, oh yeah, lookin’ fresh.
My creation is pictured above. What will your color combo be?
