While waiting for the G2 to go on sale, the G Pad to become official and the LG Nexus 5 to have its existence confirmed (or not,) leaker extraordinaire @evleaks has thought it was only appropriate to reveal the Optimus L9 II.
This is a mid-range fella that’s been featured in a number of rumors and unconfirmed reports before, but the latest leak starring the device is special in that it fills all the blanks and then some. It’s as if the Optimus L9 II would be official already.
Set to go on sale before the end of the month (so in five days, tops,) the phone will share the display size with its predecessor (the original 4.7-inch Optimus L9), but not much else.
The resolution will be bumped up from 960 x 540 pixels to 720p, the 1 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 CPU will be replaced by a zippier Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 unit clocked at 1.2 GHz and on the software side of things the new phone will ship with pre-loaded Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Even the rear-facing camera will get an upgrade, now packing an 8 MP sensor, the on-board storage will be doubled, from 4 to 8 gigs, whereas the 1 GB of RAM and 2,150 mAh battery will remain in place as there’s not really much room for improvement there.
All in all, if you’re in a market for a large, decently packed yet not very pricey gadget, you should probably hold off for the Optimus L9 II. It might be worth it.
