I know, I know, you really liked the sound of “Bandit”, Nokia’s internal codename for the upcoming first ever Windows Phone-based “phablet”. But I’m afraid it’s time for a reality check.
The 6-incher will not be marketed as Bandit, or anything signaling an outlaw of any kind, but instead retail simply as the Nokia Lumia 1520. With at least one or two months to go until the thing will become official, you can imagine the information doesn’t come from Nokia.
Still, it’s nearly confirmed, since it’s been revealed by the most credible leaker of all time – @evleaks, aka Evan Nelson Blass. Sadly, that’s all she he wrote in his latest tweet, so the spec sheet, pricing and exact release date remain covered in a thick veil of mystery.
Well, not too thick, as we’ve had several sources of late telling us the “Bandit” will come with a Full HD screen, quad-core processor (most likely of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 family), 20 MP rear-facing camera and Windows Phone 8 GDR 3 in tow.
The Lumia 1520 is to be unveiled sometime in October or November, according to tipsters, and, based on my gut feeling, it will cost at least 300 US bucks with contracts. I have dibs on one. Anybody else?
