Blackberry is undergoing tough times. A few days back, the Canadian company announced that they were beginning to “explore strategic alternatives,” to hopefully put an end to its struggles. These alternatives may include putting the company up for sale. A new WSJ report says that Blackberry is allegedly considering to make BBM a separate company.
Some company insiders told WSJ that Blackberry is considering forming BBM, Inc. and also that some executives have already moved to the new company, which is working on introducing more exciting features apart from messaging.
In case you forgot, the company is also on the verge of releasing BBM for Android and iPhone later this year. Samsung has already started promoting BBM on its smartphone in Africa.
But on the other hand, users enrolled in Blackberry Beta Zone already received access to the beta version of BBM for Android. The application is expected to hit the respective App Stores later this summer, possibly in September
The Canadian manufacturer is also facing a hard time in promoting their latest Blackberry 10 operating system that launched in a number of handsets like Z10, Q10 and Q5. All of these smartphones brought medium specifications when compared to current flagship devices like LG G2 or Galaxy S4. Even the upcoming handsets are going to be way faster than the Blackberry devices which are already in the market. Though we have seen a number of rumors about another upcoming Blackberry device – Blackberry Aristo aka Z30 – that is expected to launch in November. Will it be able to save the sinking company from its demise? We will find out very soon.
