After many months of keeping to itself and eluding the long arm and sneaky cameras of internet leakers around the world, the almost mythical Nokia phablet appears to have finally been caught on film. “Appears” being the key word there, as the alleged first photo of the Lumia 1520 comes from an unverified and unverifiable anonymous source close to the folks at WP Central.
But let’s show a little faith and assume the image is legit for a moment, shall we? If that’s the case, the first reaction any sane tech-savvy guy or gal will have upon seeing the 1520 is… damn, that’s a big-ass phone.
I mean, come on, the Lumia 1020 is not exactly a baby and yet the 1520 just downright pwns it, making it look like yesteryear’s big thing. Not that size is everything. But for some, it’s a lot.
Expected out towards the end of September (as in formally unveiled, not commercially released), the one that was known as the “Bandit” is to come with a 6-inch 1,080p display in tow, a polycarbonate body (not again?!), 20 MP PureView rear-facing camera (aw yea!), quad-core Snapdragon CPU (please, oh please, God, let it be S800), 2 GB RAM, Windows Phone 8 GDR 3, as well as knickknacks like QI wireless charging, NFC, etc, etc.
Bottom line, Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG, expect to have your asses handed to you come next month. Oops, sorry, did I say that out loud?
