CES, MWC and IFA, once upon a time the stages where everyone dueled in PC and laptop unveilings, have lately turned into arenas almost completely dedicated to mobile battles. But not entirely, as some of this year’s IFA thunder might be stolen by the Asus Zenbook Infinity ultrabook from top-notch smartphones such as Sony’s Xperia Z1 or Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3.
The Infinity, also known as Zenbook UX301, has first been showcased at Computex back in June, but, judging by a newly uploaded YouTube video (embedded below), it’s to get a second intro in the next few days. The number one ace up the 13-incher’s sleeve is definitely the 2,560 x 1,440 pix res touchscreen, though you’ll have to search high and low to find this stunning computing machine any flaws.
The exterior is mesmerizing, with an ultra-thin profile yet robust overall construction (the chassis is made of aluminum after all), while the spec sheet is positively dreamy.
Aside from supporting Intel Haswell chips up to 2.8 Ghz Core i7, the thing also comes with spanking new Iris 5100 graphics, SonicMaster sound and, I presume, plenty of other goodies that are sadly still kept under wraps. Asus is certainly trying our patience here, but I assure you, all this waiting is worth it.
Besides, it can’t be long now until seeing the Zenbook Infinity up on store shelves. Namely, an early October or even late September commercial launch is in the cards.
