Waiting with bated breath for Nokia to finally unveil the once mythical Lumia phablet that’s now as transparent as glass to the entire world? I can’t say I blame you, but what if I were to divert your attention from the Lumia 1520?
Mission Impossible 5? Not exactly, since Nokia’s UK branch has just confirmed on Twitter that the Lumia 1020 will launch around those parts come Thursday. This Thursday, yeah.
True, the 1020 will likely not have much on the 6-inch 1520 once the latter sees daylight, but it will still have the edge in one very key department – imaging. Available as a US exclusive for over two months now, the 4.5-incher features an amazing 41 MP PureView rear camera, packed with software and hardware add-ons that bring it very close to a full-fledged DSLR.
There’s optical image stabilization, Xenon and LED flash, auto and manual focus, face detection, dual capture, panorama, not to mention 1,080p video capture capabilities and 4x lossless digital zoom.
You see, if all you want from a smartphone is to make and receive calls and capture the most amazing photos ever, the Lumia 1020 is your best option around. End of story. No other phone comes close to it and no gizmo will in the foreseeable future.
So get ready over in Great Britain and, I presume, other European states, as the Lumia 1020 is coming your way. No pricing details have been revealed yet as far as the old continent goes, but be sure to keep in touch over the next couple of days for updates.
