We already knew that BBM for Android is in its beta stages and is being tested by registered developers via Blackberry Beta Zone. And on the other hand, there’s an upcoming event where the Canadian manufacturer is expected to release Blackberry Messenger for iPhone and Android. Adding to all the hype, the .apk for BBM for Android was leaked early Monday morning on the Crackberry forums.

Before you try to download and install the application, you should know that you will not be able to use it on devices that are not approved in the beta program. You can try to install the application, but it won’t work.

According to Blackberry,

The excitement around the upcoming launch of BBM for Android and iPhone users is amazing. We want to thank everyone for their enthusiasm, but wanted to let people know that the program is structured so that only those in the beta will be able to use the app. The version we’ve seen on the Web in the last couple of days can be downloaded, but will not work on devices that are not approved in the beta program.

This does mean that the launch of the much-awaited BBM for iPhone and Android is imminent. It will not be long before the folks at Blackberry open the gates and the application goes live in the respective app stores. We already know that BBM for iPhone was submitted to Apple App Store, so we’ll just wait for the official announcement and hope that the application is worth all the hype.
