If you’re an AirPlay user, you want as many apps to work with it as possible. I consistently read user complaints that the Amazon Instant Video app doesn’t play with AirPlay. Well, no more. The app was updated today to add that feature, plus some other goodies.
According to the changelog, the app has added a better recommendation engine, IMBD information and the ability to read user reviews.
The app has come a long way from it’s first version where you couldn’t search, recommendations were lacking, and about all you could do with the app was watch videos you’d selected from the Amazon site. Now, it looks like a mature app with good search and other features.
I like the IMDB integration and the ability to find other movies/shows with actors and directors. It makes it easier to find other things to watch, which pleases me as a user, making me more likely to stay in the app, which pleases Amazon. Win-win. Now if they’d just create an Android app. That lack is the other complaint I read/hear about frequently.
They still aren’t perfect, however. One of their recommendations for me was Human Centipede. Guess I need to educate Amazon a bit more on what I really like.
