It had to happen one of these days. Following more Nokia Lumia 1520 rumors, leaks and unofficial spills of information than I can count on my fingers and toes (far more actually,) here comes the first scoop uncovered via an official source.
Straight from the horse’s mouth (for the sake of my metaphor, Qualcomm being the horse,) we now know the biggest, baddest and proudest Windows Phone ever will be powered by a fast and furious quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
How fast and furious is that thing? Let’s just say everybody is using it nowadays for flagship devices, from Samsung to LG, Asus, Acer and even Xiaomi (not HTC though.)
The confirmation of the chip’s using came unexpectedly by way of an otherwise lackluster conversation between the man (or woman) in charge of Qualcomm’s main Twitter account, the one created especially for the Snapdragon brand and a Nokia enthusiast.
Of course, the leading mobile semiconductor maker was quick to delete the incriminating tweet, saying that it was all a misunderstanding and that “we don’t have any info about future devices”. But the harm was already done and, while heads will most likely roll, we’re just glad to have something substantial to base future speculation on the Lumia 1520.
Now how about some similarly concrete proof concerning the 6-inch Full HD screen, 2 GB RAM and 20 MP PureView camera? Too much to ask and too soon, eh?
