If you’re one of those cautious fellas that doesn’t like to get carried away and who lives in the present rather than constantly looking towards what’s to come in the mobile landscape, you’re probably not that impressed with the mind-bending but much too distant Sony Xperia Z2 rumors.
Instead, you’re likely focused on the Z1. But alas, the 5-inch waterproofer, sporting top-notch features from head to toe, is impossible to be had stateside. Unless you don’t mind paying an arm and a leg for an outright, SIM-free version.
If you don’t, then GSM Nation is the way to go, with the online retailer asking $749 for the model numbered C6903. The good news? It’s an LTE-enabled flavor which ships “within 24-48 hours”, friendly with AT&T and T-Mobile’s high-speed 4G networks. The bad news? It can’t be activated on Verizon or Sprint.
Now usually, I would advise against making this sort of “deal”, since the unlocked Xperia Z1 available with GSM Nation is kinda, sorta overpriced. And though I myself am not a big fan of contracts, if you’re thinking of getting a beast of this sort it’s probably wiser to not splash the cash all at once.
But the thing is, for reasons I don’t fully understand, Sony is not exactly tight with any of America’s big four carriers. Translation, there’s no way to know when or if the Z1 will go on sale subsidized. Bottom line, GSM Nation, here we come.
