Despite the Moto X not developing into the kind of commercial home-run the now Google-owned company rooted for, Motorola appears to be going about its business more emphatically than ever, even prepping its tablet comeback.
As much as we’d all like to forget, the X makers were fairly active in the slate business two or three years ago, rolling out such underwhelming devices as the Droid Xyboard 8.2 and 10.1 and Xoom.
Hence, their big return to that particular sector of the mobile universe might be dreaded by many, albeit chances are Motorola’s learned from past mistakes. For one thing, the rumors are piling up for this mysterious slate to come with a customizable Moto Maker tool a la Moto X, allowing folks to choose their preferred paint job, build materials and so on and so forth.
But how do we know the tab even exists? We don’t, it’s just Verizon has very recently uploaded a teaser video on YouTube, called “The Drop”, and featuring what looks eerily similar to a 10-inch slab of silicon.
Everything else about the Droid is wrapped in mystery, I’m afraid, but expect other hints to be dropped by Big Red in the following days and an official announcement in time for the holiday season. Who’s willing to forget about the past and give Motorola another chance in the Android tablet game? Anyone? Anyone at all?
