Ever wanted to control your Windows machine from your phone or tablet? Yes, there are plenty of third-party apps that give that functionality, but some might think that a product from Microsoft would be the better option. Well, we’ll see later this month.
SlashGear is reporting that Microsoft is making a native Windows Remote Desktop available for Android and iOS devices by the end of the month.
The apps will support full Windows 8 gestures, so it should feel much like controlling your desktop, just on the smaller screen.
Apparently the app will be free in the respective app stores, so there won’t be much reason not to try it out.
One caveat, however. It looks as if the app will only control computers on the same wireless network as the mobile device. This killed some of my excitement. There’s an app on my computer that I would love to run when I’m away from home. Looks like Splashtop is still my best option for that.
