“Join us for a night out with Google Play,” says an invitation from Google sent to press members throughout the week. Recently, Google (as always) has been the center of many leaks and rumors, namely around their upcoming Nexus 5 handheld. However, we’re thinking this event may not be centered around the device; instead, it’ll most likely spotlight the company’s media webstore, Google Play.
But what is it about [easyazon-link asin=”B00DRGA4SC” locale=”us”]Google Play[/easyazon-link]? An overhaul of the whole system? New services, memberships or products? What is it Google? Please. Please?
Alright, fine. I’ll wait six days. October 24 is the date. New York City is the location and the event is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. EST and will be streamed via YouTube. Also, indie pop band Capital Cities will be performing. That’s cool, I guess.
Russell Holly of Geek.com, who provided the invite news to Android and Me, has said on Friday that the event will not introduce any new hardware (he is a reputable source.) So then really, what’s the deal, Google?
