Have you purchased a brand new [easyazon-link asin=”B00BWYQ9YE” locale=”us”]Kindle Fire HDX[/easyazon-link] (7″) and noticed odd purple or blue shading around the edges? Well, you’re not alone.
Browsing the Amazon Customer Discussion forum, there are a number of complaints about the shading. Here’s a video showing exactly what’s going on.
As is typical when hardware issues show up, users are getting different reactions when calling Customer Support or using the new MayDay feature on the Kindle Fires. It appears as if most people are being told it’s a hardware defect and that Amazon is replacing defective units. However, one user was given a quite different story:
I have the same issue, and I called the May Day person this morning. He told me that all their units have the same issue, and it’s an optical effect, not hardware defect.
Interestingly, while this sort of thing usually generates lengthy threads on the KBoards user community, a quick search revealed only a few comments. To contrast, when the Kindle Paperwhite was released last year, many users noticed a similar effect, and it generated numerous threads on the forum.
What about you? Do you have a Kindle Fire HDX, and are you noticing the shading effect? If so, how much of a bother is it?
