Blackberry unveiled their latest Blackberry OS 10.2 along with the 5-inch BlackBerry Z30 last month. At that point it was also reported that the new operating system will make its way to other Blackberry 10 devices including Z10, Q10 and Q5.
After a successful roll out of BBM for Android and iOS, the company seems to be continuing their work to make Blackberry users happy by releasing the latest OS 10.2 for their other, existing devices. The new operating system brings several new features and improvements compared to its predecessor. Some of the new features include Priority hub, improvements to BBM video, lock screen notifications, Blackberry keyboard, improved sharing process, improvements to calendar application and much more.
The update will roll out for most of the regions this week, including Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe and Middle East. BlackBerry announced that the folks in Latin America would be able to get the update starting this November. Obviously, the timing could also vary depending on region and the carrier a user is tied to. But, the good thing is that the new BB OS will be coming very soon in most regions.
Well, users in the United States will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands-on the Blackbery 10.2 update. It’s mentioned on the official blog post that the update will hit the U.S. this winter. The company didn’t mention any exact date or even month when users can expect that notification to popup on their screen.
One thing that’s of importance is that the update will not be available for all carriers. Blackberry added a small footnote saying, “Not all carriers will be releasing this update.” Let’s just hope that it’s available on all major carriers.
To update your Blackberry handset, just look for an alert in the notifications section in Blackberry Hub. Alternatively, you can also check for the update by going to System Settings on your Blackberry device and look for updates.
