Is there any room left in the smaller than 10-inch Android tablet landscape, what with Google’s new Nexus 7, Amazon’s upgraded Kindle Fires, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0 and the LG G Pad 8.3 crossing swords for a place next to Apple’s iPad mini in the gallery of greats?
Well, if there is, Alcatel will take it and monopolize it with an anorexic One Touch Pop slate. The yet to be released 7-incher doesn’t only have a wasp waist going for it in the design department, but also color.
Or better yet colors, as there will apparently be at least five different paint jobs for you to choose from: snazzy red, bright yellow, enchanting pink, sapphire blue and classic black. Alas, the racy photo pasted above is the only thing relentless leaker @EvLeaks has chosen to expose to the press at this time, which leaves the spec sheet filled with holes.
So filled with them that the only certainties are it’s to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or above and keep things sufficiently modest to not go overboard on pricing. What does that mean exactly? No fancy quad-core CPU, 1 GB RAM max, an HD screen at best and definitely a lower capacity battery than Nexus 7 2013’s 3,950 mAh ticker. Fingers crossed for a sub-$150 price point, right?
