What is it with Amazon not disclosing numbers? We just know that the company is selling millions of Kindle but not exactly how much, not even an estimate. I won’t expect any disclosure from Amazon but at least we know that 3rd quarts sales have increased to $17.09 billion, up by 24-percent.
The figure is better compared to last year’s Q3 sales of $13.81 B. Operating loss was only $25 million compared to the $28 M the previous year. As for net loss, it was $41 million.
During the 3rd, you may remember that Amazon introduced the new Kindle Fire HDX and updated versions of the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite. These new e-book readers have contributed to sales making Jeff Bezos even richer—that he managed to acquire the Washington Post.
Millions were added to the circle of Amazon Prime members. It’s one of the reasons why Amazon sales were up that perhaps prompted the company to deploy 1,382 Kiva robots to help in fulfillment automation. Aside from robots, about 70,000 new employees were hired and are being trained in fulfillment centers in the U.S.
