Oh, come one Google, just release the handset already. Google Nexus 5 appears to be the worst kept secret of the company. The handset appeared in several images, videos and even made an appearance on the Google Play Store showing a price tag of $349, which we think is for the 16GB variant. If you’re still not convinced, then you should check the pre-registration page that was posted by the folks at Wind Mobile, which is now taken down.
The posting revealed the entire set of specifications that the handset is expected to bring at the table. Interestingly, the handset has not yet been announced by Google or LG, but many retailers and now, even carriers have leaked the handset. This suggests that the official release of the handset should be near.
Coming back to the specifications revealed by the carrier, there’s nothing new as we know all the mentioned specifications. Still let’s just do a quick recap, the handset is expected to come with a 4.95-inch full HD display boasting a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, it’s powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset with a clock speed of 2.3GHz and 2GB RAM.
Other specifications shown in the image include 16/32GB storage, 8MP camera with optical image stabilization, 1.3MP front-facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and will run Android 4.4 KitKat.
There’s no official announcement about any event by the folks at Google or LG, but rumors suggest that it might take place on 31st October. Our prolific leaker tweeted that the official launch date could be 1st November. Interestingly, both dates are very near and we’re hoping that Google will put an end to all these leaks and rumors by the end of this week.
