Thought the Nexus 5 rumor bonanza turned into a craze already? Heh, it’s only now that the craze has begun. Just browse a tech-focused website or blog. Any site or blog. Now look at the recent history of articles posted and count everything that has the word “Nexus” in its title.
Don’t know about you, but I found several reputable sites with half a dozen of these articles. Each. Now that’s just overdoing it. As far as our website’s concerned, we’re trying to keep a clear mind and be a little chiller about these sick games Google’s playing with the media of late.
So instead of dedicating an article to each new N5-centric rumor, here’s a quick recap of what’s happened the past 24 hours. First, a screenshot of an internal Carphone Warehouse system popped up, showing the UK retailer stocking about 1,500 black Nexus 5 units.
Big deal? Not exactly, albeit this proves the commercial launch is right around the corner. Oh, and also, that LG may be better equipped to deal with high demand this time around. You know, since they did such a half-assed job with supplying Nexus 4 stocks last year.
Moving on, there’s a photo going around the interwebs that may or may not have been snapped with the N5. The EXIF data proves it did come from the Nexus 5 and it’s dated October 26, but we know very well how easy it is to fake that kind of info. And even if it’s real, it shows diddly squat about the phone.
Which brings us to the last story of the day, according to which Google is planning a special press event in… Israel for November 5. The Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat will likely get a second unveiling of sorts then, but one has to wonder: why Israel of all places? No idea, but we’re bound to find out sooner or later.
