It was bound to happen sooner or later, as two of its international flavors got it already, but it’s sure nice to see Samsung’s Galaxy S4 get treated to an almost shockingly swift bump up to Android 4.3 on not one, but two American carriers.
Verizon was first (and the surprises keep on coming,) but Sprint couldn’t let Big Red bathe in the spotlight too long, so it followed suit in a matter of hours. Obviously, AT&T and T-Mobile are doing themselves a great disservice in holding off on the upgrade, but something tells me it can’t be long now.
As far as specific tweaks and increments go, since the GS4 was previously on 4.2, the 4.3 Jelly Bean update has an awfully short changelog. Yet you’ll still get some customary minor bug fixes, almost unnoticeable performance enhancements, as well as two (more or less) noteworthy add-ons: full Galaxy Gear support and Samsung Knox, a security-enhancing fresh app.
Make sure to manually check for the update if you haven’t received an automatic prompt message yet and remember to pull it via wireless so as to not consume your carrier-offered data all at once. Oh, yeah, and expect a little chocolaty treat next, though chances are 4.4 KitKat isn’t landing in time for the holidays on any Samsung device.
