Google unveiled the Android 4.4 KitKat, which was designed to run on older devices with low-end specifications and with RAM as low as 512MB. After this news, a majority of people hoped that manufacturers will update their low-cost devices to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. Unfortunately, there’s no such news from any OEM, but a leaked internal document mentioned Samsung will update several of its old devices to Android 4.4 KitKat.
The folks at SamMobile managed to grab an internal document which lists several devices of the Korean OEM including Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2, and the Galaxy Fresh. However, just don’t be too happy as there’s no guarantee that all these devices will get the Android 4.4 KitKat. All these handsets are marked as “under investigation” so let’s just take it with a grainSamsung Galaxy S4 Mini of salt.
Reason? Well, out the 8 devices, only Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini could be the only one with a little hope of receiving the update, while others may or may not get the taste of Android 4.4. Secondly, the low-end models in the list may not have enough memory to run the Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz on top of it, as its bloated with too many apps.
Anyway, if it’s true, we will definitely see a word from the Korean OEM about the roll out. We’ll update you if that happens.
