CES 2014 is still more than three weeks away, but some may consider that a too short window of time to build enough buzz. So a number of key mobile and PC players have started the teasing already, including Asus, whose January 6 press event invite reads simply and intriguingly “In Search of Incredible”.
What kind of tricks could Asus have up its sleeve for the Las Vegas expo? For one thing, the PadFone mini. Unveiled earlier this week with fairly modest specs and a surprisingly low price, the phone/tablet hybrid might be further detailed in “Sin City” and maybe even get some concrete availability details for the West.
Then there’s the MeMoFone, the rumored first standalone top-shelf Asus-made smartphone. We’re light on specifics for the time being, but make no mistake, if the purported beast is to debut in less than a month, a whole lot of additional teasers will come and some pieces of the puzzle shall be uncovered early.
How about a smartwatch? Or a couple of Chromebooks? Maybe new Transformer Pads? An even cheaper version of the increasingly popular MeMoPad 7 slate? You never know with Asus, so we’d probably be better off leaving speculation aside and just wait for the “Incredibles” to unravel. That way, we can be dazzled and surprised.
