When it comes to celebrity endorsements, Beats headphone brand long since crossed over from the rap world to sports, with the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Garnett already appearing in commercials for the company. When the pre-game show has those shots of a player getting off the team bus before game time, that guy seems to be wearing Beats headphones as often as not.
Now Beats has added a new celebrity spokesman: San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. And that team bus scenario is exactly what the new ad went with.
The first commercial with Kaepernick began airing last week, and features the quarterback putting on headphones – the Beats Studiomodel, specifically- to drawn out the noise from opposing fans outside the stadium. It’s in an unnamed city, but come on- it’s Philadelphia. (Although apparently, fans of the Niners’ current top rival, the Seattle Seahawks, think it’s about them, with some even calling for a Beats boycott.)
Here’s an extended online version:
Kaepernick, a third-year player out of Nevada, led the 49ers to the Super Bowl last year, in his first year as starting quarterback. A few months ago, he and Seattle’s quarterback, Russell Wilson, appeared together in a commercial for EA Sports’ Madden 25 game.
