Microsoft kicked the holiday shopping season into gear in style last week, when it sold limited quantities of the Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet for an incredible $99, but the “12 Days of Deals” are still ongoing and they’re not losing steam.
Not even close, as the star of today’s promo is a $599 touch-enabled 13.3-inch tablet/laptop hybrid. The HP Pavilion x2 normally goes for $899 through Microsoft’s stores, so if you hustle up, you’re looking at 300 bucks savings on one of these bad boys.
Hustle up you must though, as the $599 price tag will be valid only for the first 100 orders placed online starting at 7 am PST/10 am EST today, December 16, and first twenty lucky customers at each involved MS brick and mortar store across the US and Canada.
Once the initial stocks run out, a second wave of discounted Windows 8 convertible machines will still be available, but at a pricier $699. Which is technically not a steal, since Amazon charges $650 for the HP Pavilion x2 as part of another likely time-sensitive promotion.
Bottom line, today may not be the greatest of the 12 Days of Deals, however December 18 and 20 (i.e. Wednesday and Friday) surely will. Microsoft is going to offer the on-contract AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 for free with a $50 app card also included 48 hours from now, whereas the end of the workweek is to bring HP Envy 15’s pricing down to $499 (currently, $899, or $670 via Amazon).
Guess you’ll have to rethink the whole not believing in Santa business.
