The holiday spirit is in the air, despite Christmas being still more than a week away, and there’s no better way to celebrate than buying cheap, high-end presents for loved ones. Or get yourselves some nice gifts. You’ve earned them, right?
On that note, light photo buffs with a passion for Android probably can’t expect to do much better than score the on-contract AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom via Amazon. The online retailer offers the smartphone/point-and-shoot camera cross for $0.01 with new two-year contracts and $49.99 on upgrades.
How much do you save? Well, AT&T charges $149.99 with pacts, so I’ll let you do the math. Meanwhile, if you’d rather escape contract restrictions, Amazon is likely not the best option. They sell the S4 zoom for $599.99, which is 70 bucks north of what the second largest wireless service provider in America asks for the chunky robust 4.3-incher.
Just to be clear, the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom has more in common with the S4 mini than the standard S4 in terms of gaming, browsing or multimedia performance. Its display is fairly modest, with 960 x 540 pixels resolution, and there’s a run-of-the-mill dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU running the hardware show.
What makes this thing special is undoubtedly the stunning 16 MP rear-facing camera with 10x optical zoom, Xenon flash and optical image stabilization. Enough to redeeem the horrendous 208-gram weight and 15.4 mm thick profile? Your call.
