Alcatel is slowly but surely becoming a constant of major tech trade shows, always with generous rosters of new products to flaunt during expos like CES, MWC or IFA. This year’s Consumer Electronics Show is no exception, as the One Touch Pop C9, One Touch Pop 7 and 8 have earlier today gone official.
Starting from the smallest member of the fresh Android family, the Pop C9 doesn’t have much going for it in the hardware department, however it’s colorful, playful and, presumably, cheap. There are no words on pricing yet, but anything north of $250 would shatter any chances the big guy holds of making waves.
Of the meager specs “rocked” by the One Touch Pop C9, the 5.5-inch 960 x 540 pix res panel really “stands out”, albeit the 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU, 8 MP rear-facing camera and 2,500 mAh battery should probably save face a little.
Meanwhile, the phablet’s bigger siblings are to roll out in late February 2014 (the Pop 7) and early March (the 8-incher), with prices also undisclosed but predictably low. Of the two, the Pop 8 looks the most impressive least pitiful, as it sports a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek Soc, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 1,280 x 800 pix res screen, 1 GB RAM, Wi-Fi and 3G.
Then again, there’s not much separating the non-identical twins, as the OT Pop 7 comes packed with the same 1 GB RAM, 3G connectivity, a dual-core 1.3 GHz CPU, slightly worse 1,024 x 600 pixels resolution display and Android 4.2. Please tell me you’ll ask no more than $100 for this thing, Alcatel.
