According to Re/code, Hewlett-Packard will announce two large smartphones on Wednesday. The devices will have 6- and 7-inch screens and will be called Slate 6 and Slate 7. Both devices will run Android 4.2.2 and have a quad-core processor, 16 GB of storage and they will also carry the option of expanding storage space with MicroSD memory cards.
However, we don’t know much about a United States release seeing as these phablets will first be available in India staring in February. The price is still unknown.
“Consumers are looking for a way to consolidate devices. We think there’s an opportunity to enter a growing market where there’s an unmet need,” Ron Coughlin, vice president of HP’s consumer PC business, told Re/code.
Both devices will hit store shelves in February at a yet-undisclosed price.
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since [easyazon-link asin=”B00GYM8WYO” locale=”us”]HP[/easyazon-link] has made its plans to enter the smartphone/tablet market pretty known.
“I won’t say where or when, but you can expect us to do more in the coming months,” said Coughlin.
