Coffee and tech: They go together like… coffee and tech. So news of a Samsung/illy partnership makes sense.
The two companies have been dancing their dance for a couple months, with illy collaborating on Samsung’s SOHO Galaxy Studio, and then additional, er, synergies at CES.
Now the pair have agreed on a “multiyear partnership” that will surely please caffeinated [easyazon-link asin=”B00BV1NKCW” locale=”us”]Galaxy S4[/easyazon-link] users. The stated goal is to “enhance the consumer experience” in their respective retail stores.
That means Samsung will provide illycaffè stores with “engaging high tech entertainment and service solutions” such as Galaxy products, a special app and the in-store assistance of “Samsung Angels,” which may or may not be scantily-clad attractive people who know their way around a smartwatch. illycaffè, for its part, will provide Samsung Showrooms and events worldwide with… coffee. Neat!
Quotes from the joint press release imply that the goal of the partnership is to encourage innovation. “The attention that both companies bring toward human creativity, specifically with regards to art and design, provide a common ground for the two brands.” Bold!
The illycaffè store on London’s Regent Street is the first implementation of the partnership. “A boutique cafè where traditional style meets high tech, it enables customers to enjoy a superior experience based on engaging visual interaction and premium multimedia content,” says the release. Whoever wrote that sentence is definitely familiar with caffeine.
More Samsung and illycaffè stores will come online throughout the year.
