According to technology news website, Re/code, Google has acquired U.K. artificial intelligence start-up DeepMind for a cool $400 million price point.
DeepMind describes itself as a “cutting edge” company specializing in combining “the best techniques from machine learning and systems neuroscience to build powerful general-purpose learning algorithms.”
CNET confirmed the deal from a Google representative, but the representative declined to discuss the terms of the deal. According to Re/code, CEO Larry Page personally pushed the deal.
Google has already been heavily involved in artificial intelligence as of recently. Within the year, Google announced the opening of a lab that utilizes a quantum computer for machine learning.
