They let the details slip to the press… more than once, they teased it, teased it again, even mistakenly listed it online as “coming soon” when it wasn’t officially announced. And it still isn’t, though in roughly 48 hours it should.
Hopefully, nothing will sidetrack Nokia Lumia Icon’s launch this time, or else Verizon is going to be in deep trouble. All the delays took a severe toll on the handheld’s perspectives, its last chance of making the headlines being rolling out ahead of Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG G Pro 2’s debuts.
So February 12, i.e. this Wednesday, is perfect decent timing for a pre-order start, with February 20 then seeing the first units ship out. The make-or-break element remains however pricing, and Big Red had better not look north of $200 with contracts. 50 or 100 bucks south would be ideal.
Remember, the Icon, formerly known as the Lumia 929, is to incorporate Lumia 1520’s outstanding software and hardware into a smaller footprint. Not too small, but compact enough: 5-inch screen real estate, 5.37 inch total height.
