Unlike last month’s CES, which to be candid disappointed a little in terms of mobile product announcements, February’s MWC (Mobile World Congress) is shaping up to be as glamorous and crowded as usual.
Samsung will be in Barcelona to showcase the Galaxy S5, and possibly something else too, Sony has at least one high-end tablet and a top-notch smartphone up its sleeve, HTC may look to unveil the M8 early, while LG could take the wraps off the G Pro 2 this week, or ultimately wait until February 24 – 27.
But that’s still just peeling the first layer of the expo. Huawei is reportedly to attend the event as well, bringing to light the company’s first ever smartwatch, a tablet pair and new smartphone. Unfortunately, Juro Osawa of the Wall Street Journal has no specific details on any of the four products, so either we wait, or play the guessing game.
I wouldn’t venture into speculation land as far as the wearable goes (other than assuming it’s to cost a whole lot less than Samsung’s Galaxy Gear), but one of the slates is almost definitely the recently leaked 7-inch Full HD MediaPad X1. The second? Probably a 10-incher with a nice balance between power and affordability.
Intriguingly, Huawei’s upcoming handheld is not the Ascend P7, according to insiders, so maybe it’s… an Ascend Mate 2 Pro? Ascend P6 Plus? You got me, I have no idea what Huawei is planning, which makes their Barcelona MWC visit that much more exciting.
