If Nikkei runs it, the story is most likely to be true. Sony is said to be discussing with Apple to supply the camera for a new iPhone. Looks like it won’t be an iPhone 6 because the phone is said to be unveiled in 2015, not this year.
This isn’t a surprising piece of news though because Sony is Apple’s supplier of camera with CMOS sensor for the iPhone 5S, with orders reaching 100 million in a year. The volume is even expected to go up to $200 million if and when iPhone sales improve this 2014.
Apple is believed to be in the process of improving its FaceTime camera so that could be the reason or Apple could be ordering more for the coming year. We’ll see.
