BlackBerry is cooking up a spectacular comeback… again, and this time it doesn’t look like a joke. Hopefully, it’s not too little too late. Well, it can’t be too little, as both their rumored upcoming smartphones allegedly measure 5 inches or more in diagonal.
Yes, even the low-cost “Jakarta”, manufactured by Foxconn, but set to be commercialized under Blackberry’s name. Expected to formally debut at next week’s Mobile World Congress, the mid-end 5-incher is an open book already, thanks to recently leaked intel.
Of course, we can’t know for sure the information is legit, yet there’s but little doubt surrounding it, as the list of specs and features is escorted by certainly real high-quality press photos. Without further ado, here’s what the Jakarta, aka [easyazon-link asin=”B004HHJWEW” locale=”us”]BlackBerry[/easyazon-link] Z3 (unconfirmed moniker) will be all about:
- 5-inch 960 x 540 pixels resolution LCD screen
- Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor
- 1.5 GB RAM
- 8 GB built-in storage
- 2,460 mAh non-removable battery
- 5 MP rear-facing camera with autofocus, flash and 5x digital zoom
- 1.1 MP front snapper with 3x digital zoom
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G connectivity
- BlackBerry OS 10
Hmm, a spacious though low-res panel, plenty of RAM to go along, comfy juicer, decent CPU and cameras for less than $200? Sounds almost too good to be true, so there has to be a catch somewhere. Oh, right, it runs BB’s own operating system, I nearly forgot.
