Samsung and Apple may be in a patent battle but we can’t deny the fact that the Cupertino company needs the South Korean giant for supplies. Samsung has been providing Ax processors for Apple and we heard the partnership might end soon.
Rumor has it that Samsung doesn’t want to help a rival anymore. It makes sense but I don’t think Apple could easily drop Samsung. We won’t hear from the two but a new report from Taiwan says it will be TSMC who will now produce the next A8 chip and not Samsung. TSMC is said to produce the chip for the iPhone and iPad.
Reason for this isn’t rivalry but Apple is believed to prefer the 20nm process. Samsung has not perfected the technology yet but TSMC can meet Apple’s demands.
We hope to hear from either camp soon about this issue.
