Nearly guaranteed to go official on March 25 as the “All New HTC One” (oh, the horror), the highly anticipated sequel for last year’s all-aluminum HTC One is out already in a swanky bright gold version.
By “out”, of course, we don’t mean it’s up for grabs in stores or anything, just that the always resourceful Twitter serial leaker @evleaks somehow scored a high-quality press photo of the big guy. How does it look?
In short, not great. It still appears to be made out of solid metal, and all in all it’s not that different from its predecessor. But the rounded corners give it a cheap (-er) vibe. Again, it’s fairly elegant and sleek, just not as distinguished as the original One.
As for the gold coat of paint, we’ll refrain from accusing HTC of ripping off a certain someone (you can’t patent a color, can you?), though I personally wouldn’t touch such a tacky handheld with a ten-foot pole. Remember Raffi Jaharian, Apple’s imaginary VP of “Gold”? Guess HTC stole him from Cupertino.
Ending things on a positive note, let’s underline this pic corroborates previous claims of the all new One touting unique dual rear-facing cameras. We still don’t know what the angle is, but odds are the two snappers will make the 5.2-incher one hell of a cameraphone.
