It looks like HTC just missed another self-imposed deadline for North American One KitKat updates, as we’re officially past mid-February and the only stateside versions brought up to date are the Sprint and Verizon flavors.
But at least they’re truthful about it, and seem to be doing their best. Besides, it’s more the responsibility of carriers at this point, so blame AT&T and T-Mobile if you’re still on 4.3 Jelly Bean. Better yet, relax, keep calm and wait one or two weeks, tops.
According to Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America, Android 4.4 will roll out to the HTC One on T-Mobile “this week”, and on AT&T “likely last week of February”. There you have it, fingers crossed the timeframes stick, and a worldwide upgrading process kicked off a month back will be wrapped up in time for the cherry blossoms.
Oh, but then it’s One mini and One max’s turn, so hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Remember, HTC also has a brand new flagship device in the pipeline, whose promotion may prevent them from delivering solid software support for older gadgets.
