Sony launches the Xperia Z2 waterproof smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2014

Fresh from the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona Spain, Sony has introduced its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z2. This new waterproof phone is said to have the combination of the best display, sound, camera and camcorder that Sony Mobile could possibly put in a smartphone.

The Sony Xperia Z2 packs in a whooping 20.7MP camera with 1/2.3-type Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, G Lens and intelligent BIONZ. Simply put, according to Sony Mobile this technologies will produce superb photo and video quality. It even features enhanced video mode which enables you to capture memories in 4K resolution, that’s in 3840×2160 pixels. This means that video captured by the Xperia Z2 is four times the detail of full HD.

Complimenting the camera technology of this smartphone, Sony has also pre-installed not only its usual apps such as Info-Eye, Social live and Timeshift burst but also loaded the device with Timeshift video, Creative Effect, Background Defocus, AR effect, Vine and to See. All these apps promise to enhance mobile experience using the Xperia Z2 smartphone.

As mentioned, the Xperia Z2 is a waterproof mobile device. The smartphone is encased in a single, solid aluminum frame that is both water and dust resistant. The phone comes in a slimmer body with glass panels.

Under the hood, the Sony Xperia Z2 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3GHz quad-core Krait CPUs, Adreno 330 GPU, dual ISP and 4G LTE. It is powered by a 3200 mAh battery and features Sony’s Battery STAMINA mode.

The Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone is scheduled for release sometime in March 2014. Pricing and other details are still unavailable as of this time.
