I have no idea how many Moto X smartphones are being sold thru the Moto Maker platform but I sure want to try customising my own unit and actually receiving it in the mail. It seems exciting to see your design become a real phone.

Just recently, Motorola announced the College Collection for the Moto Maker that features 43 college-themed and state color combinations for you to choose from. Special emblems are included plus three new accents and back colors. As usual, you can mix and match the colors and logos according to your preference. Visit the Moto X site, go to the College Collection design gallery, and choose the color scheme plus logo that you want.

To get your custom Moto X, you must be willing to spend $399 for an off-contract unit. The [easyazon-link asin=”B00E92B88I” locale=”us”]Moto X[/easyazon-link] College Collection is also available for $49 with the usual 2-year agreement. And for the students, you can get a $60 discount off $399 if you have a .edu e-mail address.

For those who already have a Moto X smartphone, you can still order the special College Collection phone case for only $35.
